Innovating for a Competitive Future at BakingTECH 2021

The American Society of Baking was founded in 1924 and is international in scope, with representation in over 43 other countries and over 1,400 members. This year, their annual conference, BakingTECH 2021, has been adapted in light of a difficult year to be remote, focusing on the events core directives to educate, innovate and collaborate. The theme will center around innovating for a competitive future, featuring speakers from organizations and brands such as Aryzta, Bimbo Bakeries, Gartner and Highland Baking. FoodLogiQ’s VP of Supply Chain Strategy and Insights will be speaking at the event on traceability, technology and the FDA’s New Era of Smarter Food Safety. Learn about the session below.

Is the Food Supply Chain Ready for Blockchain?

Stakeholders throughout the food industry, including research groups like FoodLogiQ Labs and standards organizations like GS1, have been evaluating how to best incorporate distributed ledger technologies into the food supply chain for years. This interest in blockchain stems from a broader effort to achieve greater transaction efficiency and interoperability between supply chain nodes, while also decreasing the risk of data corruption as goods change hands. The potential of blockchain-based food exchange to enhance inter-organization communication and supply chain transparency continues to drive development of pilot programs. New research is being conducted to shed light on the advantages and maturity of these programs.

Tech-Enabled Traceability in the Food Safety Supply Chain
