Preparing for the Proposed FSMA 204 Rule at IFMA Presidents Conference

Later this week, the International Foodservice Manufacturing Association (IFMA) will host their in-person Presidents Conference alongside the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA). FoodLogiQ looks forward to attending, participating and speaking in this year’s event, spanning November 7 through 9 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The presential event is coupled with IFMA’s Virtual Presidents Conference, held November 16 to 18 for those who can’t attend the in-person Scottsdale sessions.

Preparing for the Future of Traceability

In the educational session “Preparing for the Proposal: Navigating FSMA 204 Today and Tomorrow,” FoodLogiQ Vice President of Supply Chain Strategy and Insights Julie McGill will discuss how food brands and stakeholders across the industry can prepare for pending Section 204 of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). This proposed regulation instructs the FDA to develop additional recordkeeping requirements for certain foods to help establish clear tracing of a product’s journey across the supply chain, as well as address food safety risks. During her presentation, McGill will delve into key elements of the pending rule, in addition to discussing how successful companies have approached traceability, and how businesses can best prepare as they evaluate their capabilities. Those attending IFMA’s in-person President’s Conference can attend the session Sunday, November 7 at 2:30 pm MST.

"We are incredibly excited to present at the Presidents Conference, continuing the conversation surrounding the proposed traceability rule, and to help leading brands across the industry understand the key elements that comprise it,” said McGill. “Understanding the requirements and how they differ for stakeholders at different points in the supply chain is critical – as is evaluating where to start to ensure readiness. We’re looking forward to this session, as well as discussions with this audience.”
