In the Spotlight with FoodLogiQ's Trupti Cessna


FoodLogiQ's “In the Spotlight”  series features talented team members who play an important role in our company’s success.  Today’s spotlight is on Trupti Cessna, who joined FoodLogiQ in 2017 as a product manager. Trupti brings 15 years of product experience and a lifelong love of fresh food to advance our mission to map and connect the world's supply chain.

Q. Tell us about your previous experience and how it led you to FoodLogiQ?

I have been a product person for over 15 years. Prior to FoodLogiQ, I had the opportunity to work for two smaller financial software companies where data-driven decisions, along with qualitative data, were critical to driving priorities and allocating time to the right initiatives. This experience truly helped me prepare for FoodLogiQ, where traceability data can enable brands to make smarter supply chain management decisions.

Q. What is a typical day like for you at FoodLogiQ? What motivates you?

Every day is different. Some days are spent developing and executing requirements that ultimately become the delivered product. Other days are filled with team collaboration and customer interaction. The latter are my favorite days at FoodLogiQ.  Brainstorming with my colleagues and discussing how we can begin solving problems for our customers is what makes me want to come to work every day.

Hands down, my favorite thing about my work is FoodLogiQ’s mission, which is to map the world's supply chain. I’ve always been passionate about food and the food industry, so participating in FoodLogiQ’s mission resonates with my personal values. I grew up in Africa, where food was procured and prepared daily. The concept of "fresh" was always a given for me because I had experiences like chopping the head off my first chicken when I was five years old. I know that sounds brutal to some, but that’s how I was raised, and I know I’ve never eaten a fresher chicken than the one on our family farm in India. My position at FoodLogiQ has also given me the insights to make better decisions about the food that's right for me and my family.

Q. What is your personal "why?" 

Food! Like most people, I love to eat, but I also love to cook. A good friend once said "It seems like most of your fond memories are centered around food," and that statement is the absolute truth. My mother was an excellent cook, and luckily for me, I inherited that passion. My sisters and I often exchange recipes and pictures of the food we’ve cooked via text. Learning about food and traveling to try new foods is what drives me. 

Q. What do you do in your downtime? Do you have any special hobbies?

I exercise and try to get my husband to exercise, which is usually the biggest challenge of my day. I love comedians. My greatest passion is absorbing the intelligence of comedians like Jon Stewart, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Trevor Noah, Russel Peters, Tiffany Haddish, Dave Chappelle and George Carlin.
