FSMA 101: 3 Things to Know About Required Record Keeping

The Food Safety Moderinzation Act rules have updated the requirements surrounding when and what the FDA will require surrounding access to your food safety records and documentation. Here are three quick things to know about about required record keeping: 

FDA request timing24 Hours...

Upon the request of the FDA, you will need to produce your food safety plan documentation on-site within 24 hours of the request.  

Two years for FDA documentationTwo years... 

The food safety plan documentation must be retained on-site at the facility for at least 2 years after the date they were produced. 

Electronic FDA recordsElectronic Records

Electronic records are considered "on-site" if they can be accessed on-site.
