Compass Group: Opening Doors and Breaking Down Barriers at reCONNECT 2020

This month we’re highlighting several of the amazing on-demand and breakout sessions planned for Virtual reCONNECT 2020 scheduled to take place September 14th - September 18th. We’re more excited than ever for these sessions led by food safety experts from some of the most innovative companies in the industry, including sweetgreen, Whole Foods Market, IPC/Subway, First Watch and Dine Brands.

As the largest contract foodservice company in the world, UK-based Compass Group has operations in 50 countries and employs more than 600,000 people around the globe. And with more than 3,000 different suppliers and tens of thousands of products, the task of managing all of the required documentation is certainly an undertaking. 

Supplier management is an integral part of protecting the Compass brand, as well as that of their stakeholders. That’s precisely why the company selected FoodLogiQ’s Manage + Monitor to help them streamline their supplier management and to provide visibility into their supply chain. 

Kevin List, Project Manager, Contract Data at Compass Group, will cover this topic during the reCONNECT 2020 on-demand session, Compass Group: Opening Doors and Breaking Down Barriers, released on September 15th, 2020. List will share Compass Group’s technology journey from the use of a manual supplier management system to FoodLogiQ Connect. The company transitioned from a basic automated supplier management system that promised a wide variety of capabilities, but was limited in the functions it directly enabled Compass to perform. Compass selected FoodLogiQ for its agile development process as well as its high degree of configurability.  

The session will also review how the rollout of Connect has transformed QA’s relationship with FoodBuy — the company’s purchasing arm — and streamlined their processes for a seamless supplier onboarding. Foodbuy acts as a separate company within Compass that offers restaurant chains the opportunity to enjoy enhanced purchasing power through a membership business model. Foodbuy is responsible for finding potential vendors and suppliers and submitting them to Compass Group’s Quality Assurance to go through the supplier approval process.

Foodbuy also has the ability to look up information on previously-approved suppliers to make sure their documentation and other requirements are current and that they are still in good standing. They can even review complaint information about a supplier and gauge how quickly the supplier responds to the issue. That’s extremely valuable when Foodbuy is in the process of renegotiating contracts.
